My Upcoming Book

A Team For The Ages

The never before told story of the greatest High School Football team in Texas history. Quite a bold claim. Consider, they were the first team to go 16-0, and they scored a then record 631 points on offense.

But it is their defense that they will forever be remembered. They allowed only 8 points in 16 games. A total of 14 shutouts, including their last 13 is still a National Record 40 years after setting it. Amazing as these accomplishments are, what is even more astonishing is what the town had gone through just previous to this. A mass shooting in a house of worship, a layoff that crippled the town, and a team seemingly snake-bit in big games. This book will look at the coach who kept his group focused and on track, and the home grown players who have done what no team in the United States has done to this day. Incredible characters, hilarious stories, and athletic achievement that may never be surpassed.

This book is something that should have been published years ago. An amazing group of young men and great coaches came together to put forth the most dominating High School Football Team ever. I’m blessed to have been a part of something so special. I look forward to reliving some of those special moments in this book.

There has never been a high school football program in the history of Texas to match the mind-numbing dominance of the 1983 Daingerfield Tigers. Brandon Sanders had a dream to share the legendary stories and memories of the ’83 Tigers and I don’t know of anyone who has been more focused, determined and committed to document a once-in-a-lifetime team. I know what the ’83 championship team meant to cities of Daingerfield and Lone Star, and I know what this book will mean to those who experienced the greatness in various ways and appreciate what Brandon Sanders has put into words.
